Movie Summary
Barbra streisand is a knockout as dolly levi, the women “who arranges things like furniture and daffodils and lives.” The famed plot concerns dolly, a young widow and professional matchmaker who sets her sights on conquering tight-fisted yonkers merchant, horace vandergelder, beautifully played by walter matthau. The painstakingly re-created streetcars, shops, skyscrapers and town itself (circa 1900), the magnificent harmonia gardens set, irene sharif's colour-splashed costumes, jerry herman's hummingly tuneful direction.
