Movie Summary
The Thakur of 'Lal Haveli' is very much attached to the historic glory of his ancestral Haveli and does not want his daughter Mukta (Noorjehan) to mix up with a commoner Anand (Surendranath). The secret meetings of these lovers come to an end as Mukta is forced to proceed for a marriage ceremony to represent her father. On her return she is accompanied by Jawahar (Ulhas), son of Lachman Singh who, incidently is Thakur's creditor and holds 'Lal Haveli' in mortgage. On seeing Mukta with Jawahar, Anand, wrongly scents a change in her and loses his head and circumstances make him leave the village forever. Jawahar's father on the other hand demands the hands of Mukta in marriage with his son and presses his demand by a threat to take possession of 'Lal Haveli' and demolish it, should he dare refuse. What happens next? Will Mukta, agree to sacrifice her own happiness at the altar of the family pride. Will Anand ever know the truth? Watch all this and more in this classic entertainer.
